Parents
& Citizens’ Assn meets 3rd Monday of each month at

P & C AGM: Annual General Meetings are not noted for their high attendance levels in any organisation, so it was great to see there were a dozen families represented at our P & C AGM on Monday night.
Equally as pleasing was the outcome, with all positions filled. Thank-you to Frank Perna (President), Karen Gee (Vice-President) and Maryanne Volker (Treasurer) for volunteering to continue in you existing roles. The contributions you have made to Hampden’s children are invaluable.
It was also great to see Rex Munchow take on the role of secretary for 2008. Rex is as keen as mustard, and with guidance from outgoing secretary Priscilla Walters and support from his other team members he’ll soon feel right at home in this new “job”.
Thank-you also to Barb Perna who has taken over the role of Tuckshop Convenor from Cheryl Barratt. Barb has been guaranteed the support she needs to continue the tuckshop’s operations thanks to the commitment of several other mums forming an unofficial committee.
Once again, to all parents continuing in their roles on various committees, to new parents accepting positions on “Working parties” such as the Child Protection Policy group, and to those retiring from their roles such as Cheryl and Priscilla, a HUGE thank-you from me on behalf of all staff and students.
08 will be great!!
Howard Frost
Principal.

LITERACY IN-SERVICE: For the whole of next week Annette Medway and Bronwyn Wiseman will be attending literacy in-service as part of the first stage of the government’s “Literacy – The Key to Learning” framework for action. They will be replaced by two suitably qualified teachers from the district.
Over the next two years all primary teachers will be required to attend similar literacy in-service.
SMART MOVES: With the weather on the improve we expect to commence cross country training from Monday as part of our school’s “Smart Moves” program for term 1.
DETAILS UPDATES: A reminder about these forms which should have arrived in the post recently. Please return these to school if any of the details shown are no longer correct so we can update our records.
BUDGET SUGGESTIONS: It’s not loo late to send in any recommendations you have in this regard.
SCHOOL BANKING: Friday is
“banking day”. The habit of saving a
little on a regular basis is a good one to get into.
Forms
to open a school banking account are available from the office.
RELIEF CLEANER: If you’re
interested in working as a relief cleaner when the need arises please let us
know. Work of this nature often arises
at other local schools as well.

FOOTBALL BARS
The
bars for the Cutters game has been moved to Sarina for
this weekend and we will NOT be required to do them. We can all have this weekend off in
preparation for a big weekend the following week for the Cowboys game. We will need people to help set up the boxes
on the Friday afternoon, this involved setting up the tables, chairs and eskies
into the boxes. On the Saturday morning
we will need people to help stack all the drinks and ice into the eskies. If you can help for either of these days
please call the school so we can arrange times that are suitable. We are needing quite
a lot of people to help out for this weekend but we will reap the rewards from
our efforts in the near future. The more
people we have to help the lighter the load for everyone.
Thank-you

GROUNDSCARE NEWS
Thank-you
to the 13 families who have volunteered their services (so far) to keep the
grass mowed throughout 2008. It looks
like a lucky number for the school!
A
roster will be placed in next week’s newsletter and if you’re available to help
out where gaps appear I’d love to hear from you.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Whenever two people meet, there are really six people present. There is each man as he sees himself, each man as the other person sees him, and each man as he really is. – William James, psychologist
