Parents

SPECIAL SPORTING ACHIEVEMENT: Jade Barratt
has just returned from competing in the State Softball Titles at Mt Isa wearing
a very special badge – one bearing the
Despite
playing three games per day in temperatures over 36 degrees, Jade never lost
his focus and was rewarded with selection in the Queensland Team, our school’s
first Qld rep for 15 years! (Vicki Perna
– Hockey)
The
Capricornia team as a whole achieved their best result, coming third overall,
however Jade was their only selected state representative. What an honour! And what does that say about the levels of
skill, teamwork and consistency Jade must have displayed over the period of the
carnival??!
Perhaps
part of his inspiration came from knowing that he had so many supporters back
here at Kuttabul? I’m sure it did.
As
a member of the Queensland Team Jade will now participate in the Australian
Championships to be held in
Congratulations
again, Jade.
You’ve done yourself proud and made your family, your school and your
local community equally as proud of your achievements.
SCHOOL CHOIR: It’s now only
5 weeks until our choir performs at the Eisteddfod on October 26.
Congratulations
to Ellise Burston who was appointed “Choir Captain” by Mrs Woodruff last
week. I’m sure she’ll take her
leadership role seriously.
On
another note, the P & C has approved expenditure of special uniforms for
use by the choir, or other similar school representative groups.
With
Lorraine Insch and Julie Burns volunteering to tackle this job there’s no doubt
the choir will be looking as good as they sound!
HOLIDAYS: This
newsletter is a day earlier than usual due to the fact that our prep-3 children
won’t be here tomorrow. For the rest,
the holidays commence after Friday.
Enjoy
the opportunity to re-connect with your children over the next couple of weeks,
free from the hassles of early rises, making lunches, and doing homework!
School
resumes for term 4 on Monday
08 October.

TERM 3
DISCO: Congratulations to the Year 6’s, who with a
little help from some of their year 7 classmates, ran a very successful disco
last Friday night.
A
special thanks to everyone who helped clean up and pack-up afterwards, to the
teachers for their supervision, and to the mums who helped prepare the food.
P C INTERNET FILTERING: Please see the
insert in today’s newsletter for details on how to obtain this free filtering
software from Integard.
I personally don’t believe any family should be without this or similar filtering software.
SWIMMING: Swimming will commence on the second Monday of next term, with children being “tested” and arranged inability groups.
Formal lessons will begin in week 4 as the third Monday is the term’s pupil free day.
All details concerning the school’s swimming program will be provided during the first week back.
MIRANI HIGH ORIENTATIONS: All year 7 students considering attending Mirani High next year were provided with information sheets detailing Orientation Days and Parent Information sessions. Enrolment forms were also attached.
SHADE STRUCTURE TENDERS: These closed today. Successful tenderers will be notified ASAP so their purchases can be collected.
SCHOOL PHOTOS: Yes, it’s almost that time of year again when we all have to look our beautiful best!! Wednesday 17th October, to be exact! (Week 2)
SPORTS EXPO: Every second year P.E. teacher Carolyn Berck organises a “Sports Expo” for the older students from our Calen Cluster of schools. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience sports they may otherwise never come in contact with.
A separate notice will be provided to children in years 4-7 regarding this day in week 1 next term.
SCHOOL
Welcome aboard everyone! You’ll be contacted individually to confirm you’re still interested in attending, but in the meantime you’re free to start packing!
SPELLCHECKER: I wrote last week of the impact computer technology was having on our school.
There are dangers of relying too heavily on computers though, including the use of your spellchecker on your P.C.!!
Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me straight a weigh.
