HAMPDEN’S HAPPENINGS: These have been quite significant over the last week, and as “a picture is worth a thousand words”, I’m saying less and including more photos today.
HAPPY EASTER: Best Wishes to all our families for a very happy and holy Easter. We’ll see you again on Tuesday 25th.

EASTER HAT PARADE
Once
again the junior school put on a very colourful and entertaining performance
for us all at the 2008 Easter Hat Parade, and this year we had some very
special participants in the form of the Playgroup children. Thank-you to everyone involved in the
organisation of this special event, and to all parents, friends and relatives
for your attendance on the day.

HAMPDEN CROSS COUNTRY: Once again this year we had an atmosphere of friendly rivalry throughout the morning as our school took part in this annual event.

And would you believe that for the second time in the short 3 year life of the Cross Country Shield, we had a tie for first.
Well done to Pythons and Cobras (46 points each), and also to Taipans for coming in a close 3rd on 42.
Medallions have been awarded to all place getters, and the team members to compete at Seaforth this Wednesday have been provided with the necessary paperwork.
Good luck team!

Congratulations also to the other 7 Hampden boys who participated well on the day, and equally as important, behaved well in front of the large crowd.
Ms Taylor who attended in my place last Sunday reported that the boys were great ambassadors for Hampden.
Well done, Kody, Billy, Anthony, Jack, Michael, Dexter, Cody and Tim.

EASTER HAMPER RAFFLE
Thanks to your extremely generous response we were able to create three wonderful baskets of goodies for these raffle prizes which were drawn yesterday following the Easter Hat Parade.
Congratulations to the following winners:
1st Prize: Medway Family
2nd Prize: Morrison Family
3rd Prize: sold by the Watkins family

The past fortnight since my last report in has been very full. The first working bee for the year was very positive with a big turnout. Tasks completed included cutting down sausages from the tree around the play ground, other trimming and pruning of trees and hedges around the school, cleaning out rain water gutters and a demonstration of a zero turn mower, along with other jobs. Last Friday 14th March the Mackay Sugar Productivity Awards Night was held at the school. From all accounts on the night it was a big success and thanks goes out to all involved especially the ladies who ordered the food and prepared the food. Big thanks go to the local businesses, Kuttabul Butchers supplied meat and the quality of which brought in rave reviews, Chunk Ice supplied ice and eskies to ensure chilled refreshments all night.
We are still looking for volunteers for the Cutter’s football match on 29th March to set up and maintain eskies in the corporate boxes. So please all interested in a good night, with a little work, contact Karen Gee or fill in the volunteer form and return it to school. It will be a good night and I hope to see you there.
Cheers
Rex Munchow
