Parents
& Citizens’ Assn meets 3rd Monday of each month at

ANZAC
As usual this Anzac Day will be a uniquely Kuttabul event, paying homage to all Australian servicemen and women from communities such as our who have worked and fought to preserve the lifestyle we enjoy today.
Your children have been practising their singing and other oral presentations with diligence, and I’m sure are looking forward to putting on a good show for everyone on Wednesday morning. Be sure to sing along with them!
As usual the school oval will be the assembly point where everyone will be marshalled for the commencement of the march at 5.30.
The marchers will proceed around
my residence and down the front footpath to the
Students should come dressed in their school/sports uniform and wear shoes.
Kuttabul’s Anzac Day epitomises the spirit of mateship forged between men and women who fought in the two world wars and other conflicts since.
Come along and be part of our
rich Australian history from
Howard Frost
Principal.

HOMEWORK POLICY: A copy of our school’s “Homework Policy” accompanies this newsletter and forms part of Hampden’s Enrolment Agreement, as set out in the Education Act 2006.
Homework has been in the news again recently, with researchers continuing to make claims and counter-claims as to the benefits of homework.
Hampden’s policy has not been designed to make homework an overbearing invasion of family life, nor to contribute to physical and/or emotional exhaustion of your children.
If you every have any concerns about the quantity of homework your child is required to do, please contact your child’s teacher.
ATHLETICS: Hampden’s Sports Day will be prior to the June/July vacation this year, with the Calen District Sports not long after the holidays.
Sports House Teams are printed in this newsletter, and in a fortnight’s time House Captains will be elected.
Sports shirts will be screen printed free of charge again this year, and for those intending to buy a new shirt for printing, please make sure it has a collar to comply with our Sun Safe policy.
Shirts for printing need to be clearly named and sent to the school by 18th May.
WELCOME/GOOD-BYE: Sadly we farewelled two families over the Easter holiday’s, but have commenced Term two by welcoming two new families.
Corey Paskins (year 1) and Dylan Edmonds (year 3) are both settling in well already to their new classes and school.
Both families have “previous associations” with Hampden as Corey’s dad, Brent, is a former Hampden student, as is Dylan’s dad, Matthew.
A special welcome, (or should that be welcome back??), to both families!!
SPORTS SELECTIONS: Congratulations to Jade Barratt and Michael
Volker for their selection in the
SPORTING TRIALS: Other sporting trials to be held in the near future include Tennis (Tues 24th) and Touch (Thurs 26th).
FITNESS TRAINING: Mrs Wales and her volunteer helpers have kicked off our fitness training program again each morning.
Not only is this training for those selected to go to Seaforth for the District Cross Country trials on May 03rd, but EVERYONE is encouraged to join in and do what is appropriate for them, for fun and fitness!
And don’t forget that we still have some great incentive prizes to be given away in a few weeks time.

Hello Everyone
Welcome to Term Two!
This week we investigated the story of ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’. Our five Prep children found a way to involve their whole group in a re-enactment. We watched a play entitled ‘Goldilocks and the FOUR Bears’ – Mother Bear, Father Bear, Baby Bear and Cousin Bear!
After reading the story and acting it out we are now looking for different words that mean the same as big and little, investigating and comparing sizes, making masks and wigs for the characters, finding similarities and differences between other stories about Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and trying to count in threes.
As term progresses we will investigate other traditional tales.

Thank-you to those volunteers who were able to help out at the Rugby League grounds during Easter. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Our next P & C Bar Duty will not be until 30th June, so please plan ahead to give us a hand.

It was good to see 10 people at our meeting on Monday despite it being a pupil free day. May’s meeting will be on Monday 21st.

Thank-you to Cheryl Barratt and her helpers for the delicious morning tea provided for Mrs De-Anne Kelly and our other guests this morning.
We enjoyed it tremendously!
GROUNDSCARE NEWS
Despite the damage unavoidably caused by trenching for our school’s new water mains, I’m sure we’ll all be proud of the way our school looks this Anzac Day.
As well as this month’s roster group of the Mackenzie and Patchett families, we have had other helpers doing things for us, namely Chris Perna who has gernied the basketball court and tidied up around the trees in our new tree plot, and Frank Perna who has been hard at work with the round-up!
Thank-you everyone for making our school tidy and safe. Kathy Frost (Groundscare co-ordinator)
WEEKLY CLASS AWARDS
Our weekly awards will resume for term 2 next week.
We do however have some students who used the recent holidays to tally up their awards and who have consequently made milestone levels.

MELISSA BURNS (65 awards) SPECTACULAR SCHOLAR
