Parents
& Citizens’ Assn meets 3rd Monday of each month at

ROCK POP MIME: We
have just received information that the Rock-Pop-Mime is on again this year, so
you know what that means!!!
YES, we’ll have to defend our title won last year!!
Julie Arnold was great, but Julie can’t help us much
from Charleville, so we’re looking for another “Julie” to co-ordinate the
team. Is that you??
Already a team of helpers is assembling, parents
willing to sew costumes and paint props.
Rosie Dittman has offered to help where she can also. But we
need the producer/director.
If you’ve “got the moves”, or at least the ideas for
the moves, please give us a call. We’ll
support you all the way so the kids from Hampden can strut
their stuff again in 2007.
SPORTS DAY APPROACHES:
With only 2 weeks now until our Hampden Sports Day we’ve begun
practising in earnest and preparing for the big day on Friday 15th.
A double sided insert in today’s newsletter provides
an outline of the program for the 15th, as well as the times for
Wednesday’s events. On the other side
are full lists of the three teams.
A special thank-you to Lorraine Insch and
Julie Burns for screen-printing our shirts this year, under the direction of
Bronwyn Wiseman. There were about 40 shirts to be printed, so
it was no 5 minute job. Thank-you again, ladies.
PREP PARENT SURVEYS: All
of our prep parents will soon receive Ed Qld surveys concerning the
implementation of this, the first year of prep.
Please do your best to have them completed and
returned to school by the due date.
YEAR 6/7 LOTE:
With the impending trial of more flexible delivery methods for L.O.T.E.
for the region, we have decided to provide our year 6/7 students with two
choices for the second semester this year.
Students will be provided with a letter outlining
these choices and our recommendations this coming Wednesday. Please ask to see it and return it prior to
the holidays so planning can be developed as necessary.
BOOKFAIR:
Thank-you for your support of our Bookfair again this year, which has
now concluded.
Helen Taylor will have a full “wrap” of the Bookfair
in next week’s newsletter.
HAIL CREEK COMPUTER
COURSES: Course organisers will visit Hampden on
Tuesday evening, June 19th, for an hour’s “orientation” about the 3
courses available and how they will be delivered. Courses will start in week 1 of next
term. We will be in contact with those
who have expressed an interest in these courses over the next week with more details, and to determine the night which suits most people.
Howard Frost,
Principal.

councillors voted to have a sausage sizzle prior to the disco, hence the times
for next Friday will be:

Disco from
Flyers with all
details will be sent home early next week.
GOLDEN CANE PALMS: To assist in the Student Council’s
fundraising efforts for school camp, Maryanne and Garry Volker have generously
offered to sell some of their excess stock of Golden Cane Palms and donate
50% of the proceeds to the Student Council.

metres high and are priced from just $5.

Hello Everyone,
We have been investigating clocks and time this week
in Prep Year One. Here are some things
we already knew about clocks:
1) They show you what the time is.
2) They are sometimes circle shaped (circular)
3) They sometimes have words on them
4) When both hands are on the 12 it is
5) Clocks have numbers
6) At someone’s house when the hand gets to
the 8 it is bedtime
7) Clocks say “Tick, tock.”
8) Clocks have hooks to hang then up on the
wall
9) You can wear a clock on your hand – it is
called a watch
10) Some clocks sit on the table and wake you
up
11) The hands point to the numbers and tell us
the time.
Here are some things we have found out about clocks and time
1) It takes us three seconds to find a writing
pencil and put it on the desk (when we are in a hurry)
2) It takes 20 seconds to tidy up and put up
our chairs (when we are in a hurry)
3) When both hands are on the 12 it also means
4) Some clocks have a screen with numbers on
to tell the time and you can change the time using buttons
5) Someone’s Dad has a clock in a ship like
the ones you see in a bottle or a glass case
6) At someone’s house when the clock says
7) We go out for second break when the clock
says
8) We start school at
9) We finish school at
10) Our classroom clock has cogs at the back to
make the hands move and batteries to turn the cogs
11) Some clocks have three hands – a second
hand, a minute hand and an hour hand
12) Someone’s alarm clock says
‘BUUURRRR!!”. Some one else’s says
‘Ding! Ding!’ and another plays the
radio.
13) The words on some clocks tell us who made them and where they were made.
