Parents & Citizens’ Assn meets 3rd Monday of each month at 7.30pm.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

P & C AGM:  This Monday evening (18th) at 7.30 will see the first of our P & C meetings for 2008.

This AGM is possibly the most important meeting of the year as officer bearers are elected and directions set for the coming twelve months.  P & C membership is formalised (have you returned your 2008 membership forms??) and we all have an opportunity to meet those new to the school and vice-versa.

Fortunately this year most of our P & C executive members have indicated a willingness to continue in their roles, which is a real positive for us, however we will be requiring a new secretary as Priscilla Walters no longer has primary aged children.  Perhaps this is a role you would like to try your hand at?  You’ll have plenty of support from a great bunch of other parents and you’d be doing your children and the school an invaluable service.

I’m looking forward to seeing a big turn-out in the community/technology room on Monday night.

SCHOOLS & PARENTS:  The first of these magazines for the year accompanies this newsletter, and if you’ve just warmed up by reading the “Hampden Happenings” then why not continue reading some of these other articles??

In particular I’d recommend the articles on the new National Testing (page 6), Let’s Get Physical (page 8), Homework (page 11) and Technology (page 18), but they’re all worth a read.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

(On Valentine’s Day)

“Draw a circle, not a heart, around the one you love because a heart can break but a circle goes on forever.” – Unknown

EEC NEWS

Hello everyone

Wow!  What busy little people we have been – writing and decorating Valentine’s Day Cards, using Computer software, and the Listening Post, playing boardgames, creating patterns, making things from the Useful Box, scraper painting, playdough modelling, cutting out the letters that make our names, remembering nursery rhymes, making new friends, learning to make the right choices…  It’s a whole new world for many of our students and they should be congratulated for their resilience!

Co-operation is a characteristic of successful learners and this term we are promoting this habit in our classroom.  Each time our class works as a team to complete a project, get organised, help each other etc. we all put a special stone in the jar.  When the stones reach different levels in the jar we all get to share a reward for our co-operation!  It’s rewarding to see the level creeping up already.  Go team!

Our biggest assignment will be the following week (01 March) when we have undertaken to set-up and operate 40 corporate boxes at the Cowboys V Raiders match.

A flyer seeking your assistance will be sent home next week, however we will need volunteers on the Friday afternoon to prepare the boxes with chairs, tables, eskies, etc;  then on Saturday morning to lead the eskies with ice and drinks; and finally on Saturday night to “maintain the supply “ to the boxes.

FAIRY TALES

WHAT MOTHER PIG SAID TO HER PIGLETS

PIGS IT IS TIME YOU HAD TO GO – Dylan Edmonds

Little pigs it is time for you to go out in the world.  But Mum!  We will miss you.  Not buts

off you go.  Bye Mum.  I started building.  What’s that sound?  Oh no!!  The big bad wolf!

Ryan Olsen

The wolf missed the pot and the pigs ran out the door so the pigs ran out the door, so did the wolf.  They ran in circles.  The third pig made a trap.  The pigs missed the trap but not the wolf.  He fell in it.  And they lived happily ever after.

Mikeely Morrison

He climbed down the chimney.  He missed the hot pot of water and he said I’ll be a good wolf.  I’m not trying to eat you.

Lillyann Burgess

So then the Little Red Hen decided to celebrate.  She invited all of her friends except cat, dog and pig.  At her party she had scrumptious food.  She even had the fresh baked bread she had made.  She also had a cake that she had made with the left-over flour.  Everyone was having a wonderful time.  And everyone was enjoying the food too.

Nakita Daniels

The little red hen is having a party with presents.  The pig and the dog and the cat had parties.  The little red hen is having a disco for the pig and the dog and the cat.

WHAT DID THE CAT, DOG AND PIG DO WHEN THE LITTLE RED HEN WAS WORKING

Mikaela Gee

The cat flew over the wind chime.  The dog was digging a hole for his bone.  The pig rolled in the mud.

Shelby Mackelvie

The cat was chasing her tail.  The dog did to and the pig was wallowing in the mud.

Harley Proctor

The little red hen is having a party and she is inviting the dog and the cat and the pig.

Denzel Fagan

She saw a house and Goldilocks went into the house and then she quietly walked upstairs without making a noise.  Goldilocks saw a door and she opened the door and she saw mother bear and mother bear screamed and Goldilocks ran down the steps and ran home and make it home and she sat down.

Josie Faltinsky

Goldilocks went into the dark, dark wood.  She got scared.  She cried for her Mum.  Then she found a village.  She knocked on the door.  There was no answer, so she ran off and they lived happily ever after.

Riley Cruickshanks

GOLDILOCKS STRIKES BACK

When Goldilocks got to the three bears house a puppet jumped out and went mo…ha…ha…ha… har  She went upstairs and saw mother in the bath.  Mother bear went are………..  She seen father bear snoring are ………  She saw baby bear playing with his cars and trucks.  Boo Goldilocks went are……………

Zayle Lisle

Goldilocks looked inside.  She saw three bowls of porridge.  She tried all of them.  She went upstairs into the living room.  She went to sit on the little chair, but it broke to pieces.  There were three doors.  The third door, there was a bed that was little.  Then she fell asleep.  The bears tried everything.
