PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

TERM 4:  Well here we are again at the start of the last term of 2007 – the beginning of the end, so to speak!  And no doubt we’re all wondering where the rest of the year has vanished to so quickly!

Undoubtedly time flies when we’re busy, and schools are busier and busier each year, just as life is.  There’s so much to fit in that we need to do and want to do.

Term 4 is always particularly busy and seems to evaporate before our eyes due to the vast array of events on the calendar, now and later on.  There will include:

  • Swimming lessons
  • School Photos
  • Choir – Eisteddfod
  • Sports Expo
  • Arts Council
  • School Camp
  • High School Orientations
  • Remembrance Day Activities
  • Behaviour Management Reward Day
  • End of Year Break-up Night
  • R.E. Break-up Day
  • Reporting
  • Disco
  • Etc.

As busy as they make the term these activities provide a conduit for learning as well as an opportunity for the school to showcase the many wonderful things that go on here, and for you, the parents, to see your children’s involvement in them.

Yes, it’s shaping up to be a busy, but exciting, last term!

Howard Frost

Principal.

EEC NEWS

Welcome back to term four!

The Prep/Year One children have spent a busy week finding out how to plant sunflowers.  Without Mrs Medway’s help they had to look for important numbers, words and pictures on the seed packet that would help them.  They found that sunflowers could be planted in Northern Australia all year round.  The seeds must be planted in a hole 12 mm deep and 50 cm apart.  The children organized the information and wrote or illustrated their own explanations.  Now we can plant our sunflowers and watch them grow!

Fern woke up very early.  “She said to her mother where’s Papa going with the axe”.  Last night the litter of pigs were born.”  Butt!!! What’s he doing with the axe.  One was born small and your father thinks it won’t give meat.  So he’s going to kill it.  What!  Kill if Fern run out papa stop.  What’s the matter, Fern well, well, well you just can’t kill the pig.  Why can’t I Fern, the pig is too small but I want it OK but pigs are a lot of trouble of that care of OK but now you know how much trouble.  Fern got on the bus and she didn’t talk to her friend when she got to school she had a name for her Wilbur that’s his name.  Her teacher asked her a question and she said Wilbur for the answer. She was embarrassed.

Chapter 2

Wilbur – Abbey Medway

Fern wakes up very early in the morning and warms up some milk.  Every morning she takes it out to her baby Wilbur.  Who isn’t very little any more.  When Wilbur smells the milk he runs as fast as he can, which isn’t very fast at all.  How are you today Wilbur?  Fern asked Wilbur one morning.  Wilbur grunted and ran into his house.  Fern watched Wilbur burrow under the straw.  Woow!  Thought Fern the next day Papa had some very bad news for Fern.  Fern hated the news.  “Why!!  Why!  Why!!?” yelled Fern “OK settle petal Fern” said Mum.  “Why do we have to sell Wilbur?”  he’s getting too fat.  We will sell him to your uncle Homer.”  “OK” said Fern sadly.  “Bye Wilbur” said Fern.
